Most of the time when I make new Things, I do so in a freeform manner...no plans, no inspirational image. Sometimes, I DO plan! Sometimes, I draw a picture, take measurements, map all my components out. When I do, the Thing almost never turns out to be what I imagined. The pieces don't work together the way I pictured, it becomes too bulky, or, as in the case of this little darling, I decide that a simple design is the best way to showcase the high-quality components that I use. I love Jasper in all its iterations. These brick red teardrop stones really work for the one-of-a-kind aesthetic I adore. I can't wait to post it to my Etsy shop! The only thing, the reds of this necklace are super tricky, they vary wildly depending on light! It's great, I think it is beautiful! But, I need a real-life photo for the listing...wish me luck! :)
For posterity, I will share the original plan. It may yet come to fruition, but not today.
I don't know if it is my love of sunny days or my complete ignorance of indoor photography, but I just love taking my creations out into the world! Somehow draping a necklace over a park bench lends it a bit more credibility. When I take photos in a light box at home, the resulting image is more accurate, but somehow less true. I find that my creations seem a bit fancy floating in all that white...and that is not what I am going for. Yes, these jewels are original, one of a kind, and absolutely special; however, they look best out and about! not trapped in a box awaiting a special occasion. #sunnydaythings :)
